1950’s Bennett Large Gem Kingman Turquoise Bear Claw Navajo Vintage Sterling Silver Bolo Tie. This very rare vintage bolo tie features 2 large Kingman Turquoise stones 1″x 1″ each, smaller stone 1/4″ x 1/4″ and 2 bear claws. This Navajo vintage bolo tie is rare museum quality masterpiece that is desired by many collectors for their vintage jewelry collection.

The clasp on the pendant is stamped BENNETT PAT. PEND. C-31 that was widely used bolo tie clasp by jewelers in 1950’s. It also has a stamp R for Navajo Artist that we could not identify.

The Kingman Turquoise Mine in Arizona is one of the oldest and highest producing Turquoise Mines in America. It was originally discovered by prehistoric Indians well over 1000 years ago. Kingman Turquoise is known for its beautiful sky blue color and produces many variations of blue Turquoise. The Kingman Turquoise mine also produces green Turquoise from the Turquoise Mountain side of the mine. This bolo tie features both sky blue color turquoise and green turquoise.

Bolo Ties gained popularity in the 1950s through 70s and became known as the “Western” tie, the state of Arizona made the bolo its official neckwear in 1971. New Mexico named the bolo as the state’s official neckwear in 1987, but it wasn’t until 2007 that New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson signed the legislation. Also in 2007, the bolo tie was named the official tie of Texas.
